Title: "untie the lines" on youtube
Post by: tmw on January 14, 2016, 09:57:59 PM
Anyone watch "Untie the Lines" series on youtube?  I was looking for something sailing related and found this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4DVplr3um9k&list=PLXRq1t-_HOXvL6L6lGac5YAloge4jiLRA
Watching nearly the first half of the first season, I've learned that sailboat maintenance is a lot of work, and purchasing a "low cost" sailboat could actually be very high cost in terms of maintenance expense and time fixing things.

Sorry if this has already been covered, I honestly did try to do a search before posting.

I have been following Untie the Lines from the beginning.  I have the site in my bookmarks and check in every week or so for updates.  It is about a woman from Germany who bought a boat in Panama site unseen.  The series is complete with all the highs and lows of boat ownership to the extreme.  I have to confess that I would never attempt to do what she is doing.  It makes me appreciate how we can pick up the phone and call Com-Pac to ask a question or get help, or go on line and have the support of other owners and their experiences, or order a part on-line and have it delivered the next day.  I don't want to give too much away, but, as time goes by more of the series is devoted to actual sailing.  Untie the Lines is supposed to be the first with more to come of similar story lines that make up the White Spot Pirates anthology.

Legend has it that White Spots are the areas of lives that are unknown and our purpose is the fill in the White Spots with experiences.

Keep watching and enjoy.

Is is about a young couple from Australia who bought a boat in Newfoundland and sailed the northern passage to Alaska over several seasons.

My favorite is "Keep Turning Left" about sailing around the United Kingdom.  It caused me to watch for some of his visited ports at 180 mph last trip over. Sorry I don't have the link to his first episode, do a google search.

I follow "Untie the Lines" as well as "SV Delos" and "Sailing La Vagabonde".  I put them up on my main TV with Chromecast.  Perfect winter entertainment in Wisconsin.  The Delos boys just replaced all their standing rigging themselves without dropping their masts.
