Title: ice box insulation addition (Engel conversion)
Post by: frank on January 10, 2016, 04:25:06 PM
I've got an Engel compressor unit to convert the ice box to refridgeration.
They are super low draw....but not good for too many cubic feet.
So...in the interests of both reducing the size (volume) of the icebox and adding insulation...I cut closed cell 1-1/2 inch foam for the walls and doubled up on the floor. It should keep things cooler, easier , with way less draw.
I caulked the foam together but not the "foam to fiberglass" seams .....figuring it would be easy to remove and replace later.  Will paint it white once the caulking is cured to make it easier to wipe clean.  Will let ya know how it turns out after a month or so....

Could you post some pics of where/how you mounted the compressor and the evaporator?  I'm considering adding refrigeration to my box.
