Title: replacement for?
Post by: domromer on January 06, 2016, 06:29:17 PM
Hi,

Is the eclispe a replacement for the 23 or the 19? I wasn't sure since it fell in between both.

I have always assumed it's for the CP19, as the CP23 is still in production.

Definitely a replacement for the 19. I am preparing to sell my Eclipse, as I bought a 23 for the added cabin and cockpit space ( I don't need to trailersail anymore). I had a 19 a few years back, and actually reworked the interior to approximate the Eclipse convertible galley layout. The Eclipse length-on-deck is, in fact, a bit less than the 19 (the 21' published Eclipse length includes bowsprit and rudder). The  Eclipse  has a bit more beam, but the 19 actually has a bit more knee room in the quarter berths. The Eclipse cabin extends out almost to the gunwales, so there is more apparent width in the cabin up high, it is quantum leaps easier to rig single-handed than the 19, and has a centerboard and foiled rudder for better pointing ability.

Hope this helps.
