Title: Jib Track Car 23
Post by: HideAway on November 07, 2015, 10:33:21 PM
After several decades of use the wheel on the block of my jib track cars are worn to the point of concern
Since they are over $100 new I've been looking for used.  So far all i have found does not have the spring lock.  One vendor suggested I drill out the block and insert a new wheel or the whole block.  Seems risky to me and it would involve a nut/bolt arrangement that might cause damage

Has anyone tried this fix?

I have on the 19. I installed Harken type..... I am thinking 1157, but that might not be a correct number I am just going off what is in my head.
I drilled the divet end of the rivet off, then drove the pin thru, installed my harken sheave, then installed a clevis pin that just made it through, then a cotter pin just long enough to bend all the way around the pin.

Worked great, and now a replaceable item instead of the acetyl sheave. also ball bearing.

If you want to replace the whole thing, check out Garhauer, cheaper than the big name stuff, but still high quality.
