Title: re-calibrating knot meter
Post by: ramble on on September 05, 2006, 06:27:10 PM
After replacing paddle wheel and bent axel my knot meter immediately began to read too fast. My gps shows it about 2 knots too much. Adjusting the knob on the back of the instrument did not fix it.

I called Horizon and the tech asked if the needle starts at zero. I said no. It starts at about 2. He said to send it to them for a $65 repair.

Has anyone opened  one of these and adjusted the needle?

Sorry but I can't help you here.
I found that my Rayathon Bi-Data unit was reading a wee bit slow after I fitted my Rayathon 435i Chartplotter. So electronically re-adjusted the Bi-Data unit to match the Chartplotter. All is well. Skip.
