Title: SML-CPR
Post by: Tim Gardner on July 21, 2015, 03:57:49 PM
October is an unusual month; there are 5 weekends! I'm hosting a Smith Mountain Lake Com-Pac Ron-day-voo.(SML-CPR) [ I should have my head examined]  The weekends of the 16, 17 & 18 or 23, 24 & 25 are open dates.

Please let me know if any of y'all can make it.

October 16-17-18 - is the WCTSS Cayo Costa Rendevous, but Smith Mountain Lake is a HOOT!

If you're in the area (of NOT!) you should go to one or the other!

Hi Tim:

I believe Lily and I can make the 23rd - 25th work for us.  We have a wedding in CO on the 10th (our youngest daughter), but I think we can meander back, grab the boat and head down your way.

Tim,

Head to be examined on arrival.

Either or both weekends fit my calendar.

Do you need help on logistics? (But remember,  I still have not found your beautiful cove, dock, lighthouse, and home.  I have seen the pictures. . . )

What ramp do you recommend for launching a CP 16, near you?

Best regards,
Citroen/Dave in Lynchburg.

Ramps are kinda shallow in many places.  Since this CPR is going to be on the big end of the lake, a local marina (Crazy Horse) is allowing us to run it from there.  More info on that soon.  They have a ramp onsite.  16's and 19's and Catboats can launch ther, but 23's and Horizon cats will do better at the DGIF ramp on Dudley Amos Rd. 1/2 mile away.

Hope more get interested.

I am hoping to come from eastern NC (Kinston) with a CP-19. Will depend on what is happening with work though.

Pegasus is chomping at the bit! Hope to see y'all at SML-CPR. The date(s) are okay with me, but 16,17 & 18 work best.

P.S. Of course, I'll have to survive BBB-2015 first!

Ahoy Tim , love to come out to your party but it's just a little farther than I like to drive. Been looking for a airline that has trailer hitches on there planes with no luck. Any one living out that direction should go to this
gathering, I'm sure it will be a good time.

Tim:

The chances of our making those dates in the middle of the month are slim.  We will be driving back from Colorado and probably doing some sightseeing on the way.  If we speed things up, that will be a different story, but it looks doubtful at the moment.

Mr. 23:

Might I remind you that you will probably have to travel through Maryland to get to Smith Mountain Lake?  I would be VERY careful, were I you.  Need I say more?

Well,  L & Gs, I'm sorry to say that the SML-CPR will need to be postponed until sometime next year.
Vicki won't be up for the event in time for our weather window, unless we renamed it  the Com-Pac Frostbitten Fingers Fregatta!

(We do sail through the winter months here but the raft up  swimming is out.

On a positive note Vicki continues to heal, making steady  but exhausting progress.

Understandable, Tim. Please continue to give us updates on Vicki's progress toward a complete recovery. And, a SML-CPR in the Spring sounds like a great idea. Hope you and Vicki can make it happen.
