Hi all. A couple questions, I know I have asked this question, but will try it again.
Does anyone use a crane to launch your boat? I'm looking to give it a try. Also do our CP16s have any flotation?

Not a Com-Pac on a hook.
We use to grab our Star Boat with one eye bolt at the balance point.
But no amount of flotation will ever keep any Com-Pac a float. And it is not required because of the weight of the keel.

The flotation is there for forklift usage to pull and launch our boats. As far as crane usage, single point lifting is not really a possibility due to design, but dual sling is a idea. I do however recommend due to the shape of the compacs to use a rope on each side to keep the slings from sliding out.
Would hate to see any boat drop out of slings by accident.

I have not launched a C-16 with a crane but I have lifted one off the trailer with a single point lift (a pipe fit over a fork on a forklift). Used two slings, towing straps, one on each side of the keel. Then chained them together with chain so that the slings were about 3 foot apart. Lifted with the pipe in the middle between the slings abeam the boat. It worked well enough to get the boat on and off the trailer.

Thank you for the responses. I have thought straps would work, but I would like to use a sling. Thinking of put substantial backing plates with heavy duty brass/bronze cleats in the rear and a single lifting point at the bow with a large backing plate under the foredeck. We have quite a few boats at our Saling Club on trailers and the launch with a crain when they want to go sailing. Most of them have a center lifting point. Thanks again, blessings, 'J' ene
