The next question I have for you all regarding a new CP23 has to do with the "Egyptian Cream" coloring in the deck (I'm considering buying a new 23). The boat comes with that coloring. I'm told that it's necessary to reduce the glare from the deck on a sunny day. My preference would be more towards classic style (white deck without color added, white hull, classic lines...). I don't understand how a white deck could be a problem on a sunny day because if it's sunny and there's glare from the deck, there will be glare from the water as well, so I'd be wearing sunglasses. Any thoughts? Will I be sorry if I go without "Egyptian Cream"? Will I lose re-sale value if I don't have that coloration? What are the pros and cons? ~ SSouris

The picture looks sharp! The beige areas are the non-skid and most non-skid is not white. An all white deck would be pretty boring and I can agree that it may get some glare.
I am so happy that I have a beige non-skid area considering that my last two boats had pink non-skid (light pink). I hated that so much!

There are the best shots that I can find of my non-skid. My boat is a 1989 and the non-skid still looks good.
FYI:
If I was going to get a new boat, I would definitely add to the package a bimini, dodger, and connector. Those three items are so nice to have on the boat it isn't funny. If you have your choice, I would suggest a stainless steel frame instead of an aluminum one as well. The stainless steel is stronger and that will be nice to have if you ever add solar to your dodger like I did.
I would also suggest a roller furling. Those are worth every penny, especially if you single hand.
One last suggestion would be to get a tillerpilot. Mine has a lot of use and it is so helpful (I single hand most of the time).
HeaveToo: I know what a bimini and dodger are but I'm not familiar with the term "connector." What's that? ~ SSouris

HeaveToo: OK, I think I know what "connector" is now. It connects the bimini and the dodger. Here's the photo that clued me in:

My 1985 23/2 does not have the cream colored anti skid areas and I wish it did. I thought about a repaint and then slapped myself into reality. The Compac 23 is a really attractive woman. Think of the cream color as a bit of tastefully applied makeup- she turns drop dead gorgeous!!!
