So, do you enjoy Blue Moon beer after a sail on your blue Luna
That sounds like just the thing. And maybe a bit of crooning, too. I'll take the version by Connee Boswell over The Marcels or Sinatra. :O)
Hey Spsexton:
Used to sail our Snipe on White Bear in the mid 1970's. I do not recall any permanent docks there. I vividly remember recovering my (first) wedding ring from the sands at the public launching site on a chilly Sept day, we were one of two boats on the lake. Now on my third ring but still the first wife.
Great memories of our times sailing while stationed in Mpls.
regards charlie
Nice memories, thanks for sharing! I've never sailed White Bear before this season, have just done Minnetonka and Waconia. There's a marina with five fixed docks now on the SW corner of White Bear.
Sean (2nd ring, 2nd wife)
If this is your first season, you might not know the answer, but how is the water level on the lake? Two years ago it was so low you really couldn't use the public launch. As best they can figure out, the lake is draining out the bottom as the aquifer below gets drawn down. I would be pretty upset if I bought one of those 1-5 million dollars homes on the lake, then saw the waterline recede by 300 feet!

Nate, I'd heard about this, but I'm not sure where it's at now. The marina at the SW end of the lake seems to have plenty of water, i.e. docks not extended way out. I've heard that the homes on the North side of the lake were most affected.
Just found this at DNR site, looks like water levels are a bit better now, but not back to earlier levels.
