Title: Ballast repair
Post by: Luc22 on May 02, 2015, 11:09:28 PM
i just climbed into my 16 for the first time after a long winter a couple of weeks ago. I noticed that the concrete ballast was wet and crumbling so I spent some time shop vacing the water and a good top layer of concrete as well. When I got the boat last fall the concrete was already breaking down somewhat so I have no idea how much concrete was originally in there. I know how much weight is supposed to be in there but can't tell by looking at it if it's close enough or way off. I was wondering if anyone had any pictures of an intact concrete ballast they would be willing to share. Thanks

Oh there are a pile of pictures posted over the years covering this subject.
I gave-up posting pictures after dropping a few hundred on this site from Photobucket.
Too darn much work.
Use the index on this site. I answered because I did not want to leave you hanging with no responses.

"Dropping a few hundred"? The free version of Photobucket works just fine. No need to pay them a dime. Max says "woof."

Luc22, check out the pictures at this link.   They show a top off restoration of a 16 including the removal of the concrete and replacement with lead.  Pretty cool pictures!

NOT MONEY ... a few hundred FOTOs-Pictures-Images- ... dropped onto CPYOA.

For me, on my laptop, the 1300+ PHOTOBUCKET 'files' crawl along slower than molasses running up hill.
So frustrating I can't use it.

I'm sure it's my settings. Years ago Photobucket was running better for me.

Max is so neat. I miss my collie dog so much.
