sometime next month i would like to know how many sailors will be attending the clr in july. you can e mail me the info at fordtruck52@yahoo. i would like to know the boat type and name. also if you could include your cell phone #. i have cell #s for MATT, LUKE, RICH , JOHN, MIKE C, CARL, MIKE G, BRUCE, AND JASON. just like last year if you call when you get in we can help rig, launch and park vehicles. we hope to see WILL, ROGER, JACK AND CRIS again this year and welcome all new attendees. thanks to all steve and sarah
I made my slip and hotel reservation for CLR about 2 weeks ago. The marina office staff told me I was the only boat registered for the event thus far.
Might not be a bad idea to reserve one now if you are considering going, tell them it's for the Com-pac Rendezvous. You can always cancel if you can't make it (ask about the cancellation policy as needed).
I made my reservations yesterday. I think I she noted that I was the third one so far.
To anyone looking for reservations: The local number for the front desk at the Mircrotel is 618-594-7666. I prefer to talk to someone I will see when I stay there, instead of some who knows who at an 800#. There are other places to stay as well, if not on your boat. The # for West Access Marina is 618-594-2461. Half price slip if you have a reservation at the Mircrotel.
rich, are you good to sail next weekend?
Steve,
I will send you a P.M.
Rich
i think we have 15 or 16 boats so far----make your reservations and those who havent contacted me please do so fordtruck52@yahoo----name, cell# and boat name and type -----everyone will get a list (mainly if radio contact is a problem---cell phones work great on the lake)
i made the reservation for the "meet and greet" at the winery. it will be at 7 pm on monday the 27th of july. i told them that it would be for about 25 people. those who are coming need to let me know if you would so i have an accurate headcount. for past clr sailors----we will be in the back in the new part (much better). cant wait to see everyone------she has me doing more stuff this year -----damned internet
Amanda and I will be there.

OUCH!!! Just kidding, dear. Sometimes the Admiral can't take a joke!
B23
The Admiral and I will be there.
My wife Linda and I will be there (Bob & Linda Tudor). Looking forward to our first CLR. Just a quick question; what is the name of the hotel/motel closest to the launch/docks? Thanks
Good for us two. Matt
Count Ginger and I in.
Subsailor, hotel is called mariners village
Mac
looks like we have 14 boats and 24 sailors so far. cant wait to see you all. i have phone #s for everyone except dan and roger. again the phone#s for the marina and motel are 594-2461 and 594 7666 area code 618.
Planning to attend the big race for sure, but other days/evenings that week are still up in the air - it is the week before my meetings at school start and I never know what that week will bring me until I get there.
Thanks Mac (and Kickingbug) for the info on the hotel and marina. I see mixed reviews on Mariners village what has been others experience there? Cabins especially don't seem to be getting positive comments
hope to see you and kay there. give me a call if you want to sail some sunday morning.

We've stayed there many times, for CLR and for long sailing weekends.
Earlier this year we stayed there for a late winter get together.
We've never had a problem with the room or the service.
CC
Thanks for the input Carl
Yep, the Mariners' Village Microtel is just fine; stayed there many times and never had a complaint.
It's not a fancy place by any stretch, but is clean, quiet and a good value.
If I bring Koinonia I may stay aboard. Otherwise, I may go the Microtel route. The tent last year got mighty small mighty quick and could be a problem in the rain although it did prove to be quite suitable for the few days I was there.
Bob23
Bob,
Staying on the boat shouldn't pose a problem.
You'll still have access to the galley for showers, use of the head and the refrigerator.
Also, there is electric at the docks so you could install a fan or even an air conditioner if needed.
CC
Bob, the Microtel is closed for good
The hotel is open, it's just not afiliated with microtel anymore.
The name is now mariners village.
There is also a super 8 just up the road, it's just as nice, only cheaper.
You wouldn't want to walk to the marina from there, but it's a short bike ride.
CC
plus the slip is half price if you stay at mariner's
previous clr sailors, you all know how much you mean to sarah and i. this week is always special for us . even though we missed some of the old guard, the new sailors filled in nicely. thanks-bob,linda,don,audrey,dan,tim and vicki. it was great to meet you all and share a week on the water., i am putting this years clr in the win column. i hope everyone had as much fun as we did and will attend next year. as long as there is interest we will do our best to make it worth spending your precious time with us.
Steve and Sarah, thank you for putting on a tremendous event. Lyn and I had a great time. The hospitality of all who attended is the best. I have never met a nicer bunch of sailors, you all do our sport proud. Thanks so much for all the hard work an effort that you put into the CLR, it really is appreciated. See you all on the water soon...
steve,
as you know this year was touch and go for us, but even though we could only be there for 2 days it was well worth it.
sara does an exceptional job with decorations and food.
a big thanks for helping with our loading/unloading of the mini and having us as house guests once again.
hope to come down this fall when the wounds are healed.
see you soon buddy,
C.C.
Steve & Sarah,
I want to thank-you for another great event. I had a wonderful time just like last year.
Until next year!
Chris
CLR 2015 Last Place Winner
"Second Wind"
We really appreciate all the hard work you two put into the event, it is really a great time.
It is also how cool everyone falls into it all, The first event was odd, as you are just getting used to everything and how it all goes and such, but by the end you really feel like a part of it all as you get used to it.
Then the next year is a lot better as you know everyone, and see them again, along with new faces, and it just continues like that.
I hope Ginger and I can attend every year, as it truly is a fun time, and a good break from the world.
Mac
Steve and Sarah,
Thank you so much for doing all you do to make CLR a success. We had a blast once again and always cherish our CLR memories.
Great to meet all the new swabbies and see the vets once again. A distinguished crew indeed..8 states represented.
Steve and Sarah, I really enjoyed this years CLR especially the race on Wednesday. I hope to be back again next year with a bike to ride some of the trails around there. The lake was beautiful with clear water even after all the flooding and rain in the area. I need to get one of them floating cooler things and maybe mix up some drinks. Had a really great time and I would like to thank you for hosting the event.
Dan
"Skyrocket"
dan , we were so glad you could attend and like others who had a long trip we do appreciate the effort involved trailering so far. it was great to see a group of suncats on the lake (truly a stylish craft). hopefully next year will have a larger fleet but its the people that make the event. see you next year. im already on a trophy "hunt".
i don't recall who, but someone mentioned the couple that spent 53 days in a compac 16 and wondered if they wrote about it.
looking through my old small craft advisors i found the article in issue #69.
this issue is still available in print or electronic version.

Of course I must throw my 2 cents in.
The CLR is so much fun that I think it should be illegal! How can such a diverse group of Compac-o-nauts from 8 different states with such different backgrounds instantly realize that we are a nutty family and jump into full blown fun mode for all those days and not get arrested? We raced and cheated, we raced and didn't cheat. We got sprayed with water cannons and joyfully reciprocated. We ate...and ate and drank a bit too. And a bit more...and maybe a bit too much!!! Anyone there will remember that this year it was a Jimmy Buffett theme but I doubt that it could have been more fun if Jimmy himself would have attended. Rather, he would have had so much fun, he'd probably write a song or two about us. The jokes flew like a flogging headsail and the good natured ribbing was as strong as Gingers punch, the emphasis being on the word "punch".
If you're sitting there thinking it was too far to drive, nay nay, my friend. This year, I drove 21 hours to attend this gathering of some of the craziest, fun loving sailors of small boats and don't regret one mile! Many photos were taken and the incriminating ones were confiscated by the CPYOA police to protect the guilty but keep checking back here because I know someone will not be able to resist posting some great pics.
I would like to join everyone in thanking Steve and Sarah for putting this together and although Steve really gives all the credit to Sarah, well...he is probably right! She is the hardest working organizer of this zany crew that you'll ever see. But watch her: She has a killer sense of humor that she only unleashes at rare and precise moments! Time and space fail me to name all the others but, hell, I'll give it a shot anyway. Crazy Carl and Joannie, Jason (Mack) and Ginger, Mike and Brenda, Mike and Becky, Tim and Vicci (and Buddy the official dog of the CLR 2015), Bob and Linda, Chris, Roger, JonDonRon (or whatever his real name was) and Audrey. Please forgive me if I've omitted you- my memory for names ain't what I remember it used to be.
My personal thanks to Roger for letting me crew on board his lovely Suncat and to Bob and Linda for an enjoyable afternoon aboard their yet unnamed HorizonCat. A note here is due: This is the first year as far as I know that there was a "Scared Shitless" award which went to Linda although she seemed pretty calm to me while we sailed on Thursday.
In closing, a few lines from an old Billy Joel song come to mind: "We ain't too pretty we ain't too proud. We might be laughing a bit too loud, but that never hurt no one". Well, that kind of describes this group. Suffice to say, you'll have to experience this crew in order to believe it.
See you next year, my friends.
Bob23
(ps: The only requirement for enjoying yourself here is the unfaltering commitment to having fun. If for some strange reason you may be that rare kind of person who doesn't like to laugh, c'mon out next year anyway- we have the cure!!!)
Well said, Bob! I can't add to that, except to say thanks Steve and Sarah, and thanks to Mac and Ginger for the ride,(love your 19). Buddy the Seadog made a lot of great new friends (as did Vicki and I). A great time was had by me! You can invite me back anytime.
TG
consider yourself vicki and buddy invited. hint (bring boat----and race for the gold (well bowling trophy). glad everyone had a good time---next year it will be better. oh and a special cheer for rich----1st place. im thinking that mike will remove his whole interior next year to get the edge.
