always one issue leads to another. I am replacing the rubber gaskets on perko port holes of a CP19. Upon receiving the material from Hutchins, it is different from the original item. The new material is "T" shaped while the original rubber was a a "U" channel which fit into to the regress of the port.
Question 1: How does the new material fit into the port? The cross of the "T" is wider and thinner than the base.
Question 2: What is the preferred adhesive to use in attaching the gasket to the port when fitting?
Mike:
I was lucky to find some old Perko gaskets at Fawcett in Annapolis before they folded. They may have reopened, don't know. It was a fun job removing all 6 sashes on my 23, removed all the old gasket material, cleaned them while they were off. I think I just used silicone to hold the gasket in place, reinstalled it and locked it closed but now too tightly until the silicone cured. 5 of them were perfect- never leaked. One extremely recalcitrant one continues to drip a little. No big problem.
It sounds like they may have sent the wrong gasket. Can you post a photo here?
