Title: Annapolis show
Post by: rbh1515 on October 08, 2014, 02:44:14 PM
Wish I could make it to the show.  Com-pac will have a Horizon Day Cat there...if you're going to the show I would appreciate if you could take some good pics of the boat.

rbh1515,

Recommend you contact Gerry at the factory and ask him to send you copies of photos he has.

Got some from him a while back///not the best pics.   Just asking for anyone going to the show to snap some and post them here.  Someone already said they would do it...just a reminder!

Monday looks to be the best day weather wise. As of right now, I plan on driving down Sunday afternoon, see the show on Monday, and then drive home at about 4:00. I'll take a photo or two of the HC day sailor if they've got one there.

Went on Monday - rained hard from time to time.  Visited the Com-Pac exhibit.  The Horizon Day Cat dominated the exhibit, but it was raining hard so I was unable to board her and the pics are lousy as a result of the rain.  There was a legacy, a Sunday Cat and the 14' Picnic Cat.  The lit rack was a wet mess.

Buddy the Sea Dog masqueraded as a service dog and was the hit of the show on a slow day.  I also walked up to the Tilley Hat booth.  The three reps took one look at the broken brim support ring on my Tilley and GAVE me a new one on the spot, and let me keep my old one.
The admiral was so impressed by the service she bought a new one (more feminine than mine) for herself.

The nice thing was because of the rain, we got undivided attention from every exhibitor we stopped at.  (Buddy the Sea Dog probably helped there as well)

Thanks for the report, Tim. I've also had exceedingly great service from Tilley. They set the standard for customer service as well as making top notch products.  I'm a lifelong customer.
I've been to the show in a raging noreaster once. Not a lot of fun but a Painkiller or 2 smoothes everything out.

Have my original Tilley hat signed in 1979 by Alex Tilley himself!  It is  my faithful friend having been lost overboard and recovered many times(Tilley hats float). They are the best....accept no substitute!

PS I bought it at the Annapolis Sailboat Show.

Wow Craig!
That's impressive.  Maybe they'd use it in advertising!
I currently wear a hemp hat- they're coller than the cotton. I also removed the foam float pad...even cooler still!  Last winter i bought one of the cork insulated hats...yeah- with the ear flaps. As expected, works a d fits perfectly. Yeah, I'm not in PG...it still gets cold up here in NJ!
  sorry for hijack,

I had to pass on the painkillers, after all, I had a "service dog" on a leash.  But the show was great, now all I need is 625K for a 56 Dufour.
And the time to sail it.

I got to test the Tilley discount for a unit lost within the first two years.  Lost mine on a train in Spain.  Tilley cheerfully sent me a new one at the discounted price, I think it's 50% off.  Great company, great product.
