Title: Dip stick tube
Post by: Salty dog on September 09, 2014, 05:16:18 PM
I have a 1989 27-2 with the old M12 diesel. The dipstick fits right into the block, but I can't get a good reading, always smeared. Should there be a tube coming out of the block that could be missing?

Hey Salty Dog:
Nope, but I seem to get better at using the dipstick the more that I do it.

you could not design a motor with a harder spot to place the dipstick than the M12.  Unfortunately it is the  cards we were dealt.  After three years I curse the dipstick location each time I use the boat.
