Title: Shower Knob (Cold)
Post by: SouthernNomad on August 26, 2014, 01:05:38 PM
Hello fellow CP 27 owners,

Recently while using the head shower, I went to turn off the cold water knob and the plastic thread stripped. The set up is original to the best of my knowledge (hot / cold water knobs and a hose coming out the bottom of the entire fitting to a removable shower head that hangs above). After taking the piece to several plumbing stores in my area I have come back empty handed for a spare part. Have any of you encountered this issue? Anyone know of the exact part I am referencing? I am presently on a warm trail but a direct source would save me a lot of time, which is just as valuable as $$$!

Thank you for your time and attention,
SouthernNomad

Go to Camping World and replace the whole faucet.  Under $20.

Gentlemen,
Living aboard my CP27 has its pros and cons. Internet is few and far between. Anyhow, I would like to inform you that I took BobK's advice over labor day weekend and went to camping world and bought new faucets and showers for the whole boat. Took the day to install among other things, but it all came out great. Thank you for your help and your offer for assistance. They were all original and were on their way out regardless. Now we are looking modern and stylish when shower and using the sink!

I too am looking for some faucet parts.  Since they do not make them anymore (my boats 86) and need a new faucet.  Could change but would prefer just fixing what I have.

I did not know that you could not get new faucet parts.  Is it possible to replace the entire fixtures?

I just read the post above that stated that I can get replacements.  I guess I should have read the entire post before posting the question.

Sorry about that.

Thanks Chris

Send me a picture of what you need. I have a box of faucet parts and I'll try and match them up.

Regarding the shower faucet, the faucet in my 1986 CP27 looks just like the one in my 1988 truck camper.  I would have no qualms about replacing the boat faucet with an RV model.   I have the exterior cockpit shower faucet on the boat as well, and the knobs were all yellowed and chalky.  Lowes had replacement knobs that worked quite well, the faucet looks as good as new.
