So, I'm trying to find info concerning the length of the line that controls the boom swing (main sail control) is there a standard length? Seems the one that's in my 16' is way to long.
Check the Com-Pac 16 Specifications and Data Sheet just above your post. It shows the length of the mainsheet (35'), which I assume you're asking about, plus other running and standing rigging specs.

P.S. It occurred to me that you might be describing the boomvang line. Not sure there is a standard length for that.
To also see what you really need, take the boom and pull it as far starboard or port as you can, this would be the most line you need as it is ran through properly, leave a little for a hand hold, or desired extra, and cut the rest off.
People ask me why I have so much Main Sheet and I then just pull the boom to Starboard as far as it will go and Voila! not much left!!
The reason to pull far port or starboard is to meet the down wind point of sail, the point that you would be using the most sheet line for either main or jib.

When I ordered new sheets for my CP16, I used the 35 foot measurement given on the specs page mentioned by Jett. Only seems too long depending on if I care how much the sail rubs on the shrouds while going downwind. The 8 foot boom out all the way with a 4:1 rig easily requires over 30 feet of rope.
My Barnett 1400 uses 34 feet of main sheet and has a very similar sail size, and while the rigging is different, it is also 4:1. I've run it out to the knot while going downwind. The cockpit of the CP16 is much bigger, easier to organize the excess sheet out of the way going upwind. Nonetheless, the twenty feet of rope is something to be dealt with.

Thanks for the responses. Yes I was talking about the boomvang line length! Just seems like I have a lot of line to deal with while sailing. I'll measure with the boom to port to insure I don't leave myself short. just trying to cleanup the area.
Boom vang?? Not the same as the main sheet which everyone has been referring to. Which one are you referring to?
