Is it a bad idea to mount a metal frame battery holder in the front compartment? It would involve drilling 4 holes through the floorboard and most likely using something like toggle bolts to hold it snug. I would mount it centered directly in front of the wood bulkhead, so I would think I'm far enough away from the hull and I'm guessing it's hollow under the floor board? I figured I'd ask beforehand as my idea of what's under there might be completely wrong. Thanks for any advice.
I have a compartment in front of the compression post that I put my battery in. Here's a reference discussion: http://cpyoa.geekworkshosting.com/forum/index.php?topic=6068.msg43111#msg43111 (http://cpyoa.geekworkshosting.com/forum/index.php?topic=6068.msg43111#msg43111)
It may not be truly hollow under there, but filled with foam. Later models took out the hatch and used the foam to dampen pounding in the bow if I have my history straight. Should be no problem.

Thanks for the information and link. I looked before posting, but must have missed it.
