Title: Newbie owner
Post by: PalmettoSailor on July 02, 2014, 06:24:18 PM
Hi folks
Just made a commitment to buy a CP 16. Pick up either Monday or Wednesday. Will be sailing mostly in Oak Island, Southport Cape Fear region. Signed up for membership and looking forward to learning a lot from the board members.
Have limited experience sailing, but confident that I've bought the right boat for the time being.
Home is Myrtle Beach area, but have friends in Oak Island and will be able to access the Cape Fear more easily.
Have lots of questions about charts, etc., but will post in the appropriate sections.
I also have a passion for Goldwing Motorcycles, but might be spending more time on the water and less in the saddle.
Give me a shout out if you are close by. Would like to make new friends.
Marc

Marc:
Welcome! I'm not close by but wanted to be the first to welcome you here. While I do not own a 16, I love those boats and am always on the lookout for a steal. Looking forward to hearing about your adventures!

Ahoy Marc,

Welcome aboard.  I bought my CP-16 a few weeks ago and have had her out only a few times. All enjoyable, but still working out a few kinks here and there.  A good solid boat you will enjoy.

I live in Charleston, so should you decide to come South for a sail ... give me a shout ....

ChuckO,
CP-16 Carpe Diem

Welcome Marc.  I do not have a 16 but if it is built and sails as well as the Eclipse then your decision is a good one.  I am in northern Illinois so a long way from the Beach, but it is a favorite place for my wife and I to visit.  Enjoy the new boat and fair winds.  Post some pics when you get a chance.  Al

Welcome aboard.

If you are newer to sailing there are a lot of good sources for information out there.  This is a good resource for tech stuff but you may want to look around and try to find someone with experience to help you along.

Sailing is not a hobby, it is a lifestyle.

Thank you, all, for your welcoming remarks. I pick the cp 16 up on Monday, so it's going to be a l-o-n-g weekend. Looking forward to meeting you as life allows.
ChuckO, thanks for the "invite". I actually do plan to sail in the Charleston area as soon as my skills allow me to navigate your harbor w/o enraging the "bluebloods". haha
Happy trails...er sails to all.

Hey Marc,
You will love your C16.  Simple and fun and light enough to pull around with just about anything.  Could possibly be in Myrtle Beach for vacation.  If I can pull that off, I will give you a shout.  Would love to sit and talk boats or go out for the day.
