Great first attempt at using the 16 as a trolling boat. winds were pretty high 15-20mph so the storm jib was all that was needed to propel the boat downwind, used the motor up wind. In lighter winds I would have used the sails more; I'll try that more next time out.
3 Dipsy diver out, 35 feet of line out, 35 feet of water, orange flashers and yellow/orange dreamweaver flashers, dark peanut flies tied 14" behind flasher. Coho Salmon are moving up north from southern Lake Michigan. The water near shore is still cold so they are not out deep yet.

Also had the ship "Baie Comeau" go right by us, impressive ship, see below link. It's the newest and I think biggest ship I've seen myself on the lake. Canadian ship built in China last year.

Give me a mountain stream however and I might be able to shoe you a thing or two.
Out sailing with my young grandson on our 16 when he asked it he could fish while we sail. We were moving right along, way past trolling speed. I chuckled t myself but figured the was no harm in trailing a lure. To his delight and my great surprise in no time he hooked and landed a salmon, not huge but big enough to bring home and cook up.
