That looks great!

Sorry to say my interior is a far cry from that one. I'm hoping to just get a fresh coat of paint on and cover up that gray speckled look. In matter of fact, I'm off now to do a final sanding and perhaps get a coat of paint on before I have to fire up the grill.

Dusty,

The interior shown in your provided link appears to be similar to the all teak interior installed at the factory by ComPac to the later model 16's. My 1990 CP 16/3 is mostly teak inside with carpeted side panels over the bunks, a carpeted floor and a nice white fiber headliner. It came that way from the factory and this delux interior may have been added by Hutchins starting back in 1988 or so on the 16/3 version and on the CP 16XL (centerboard version). The boat in the link has most of the same interior but the owner added the racks and the door, etc. The boat in the link is an older model with an added bowsprit. It may have had a conglomeration of add ons by its owner? Hutchins sells the teak interior panels to retrofit older models.

I painted my teak interior with two coats of Cetol and it looks better than new. People are amazed at the beautiful cabin on a small boat. The story goes that Hutchins was countering the competition near the end of the CP16 manufacturing run with the nicer interiors. Again, based on my boat and others I have seen the fully done interiors were factory upgrades starting somewhere between 1988 and 1990.

That is one pretty boat! Mine is all original with the grey splatter.I've chose to keep it that way and have only painted and repaired as necessary.

A previous owner of our 78 CP16 #763 repainted the forward part of the interior in white and also added varnished plywood pieces to the bulkhead, and some varnished shelves. Looks great and sealed the deal for us when we bought it.
