Post by: hockeyfool on May 01, 2014, 10:25:10 PM
Time to fix what is not good on my trailer -- need a winch replaced -- any ideas how much load capacity I need ?

The winch on my trailer is a DL2000A, which has 2000 lbs. of capacity.  It works fine.

When the boat is floating over the trailer, not a lot of pull is needed to put the bow into the bow block.

Your not pulling the boat onto the trailer 'dry', with the winch are you?

Some older Performance Trailers were fitted with cable, [prone to rust], while newer ones had straps. My 1996 strap rotted off once and last year it was replaced. Still the original factory winch. May 1500 to 2000 lb? Keep it well oiled.

skip.

When I replaced my winch I went with a Shelby 3200. It is a two speed winch (with brake) and the two different speeds makes it easier to get back up on the trailer.
