Title: Possible new 16 owner . . . anybody in New Hampshire who can show me one?
Post by: danderby on May 22, 2006, 06:13:56 PM
Hi

I'm looking at a Com-Pac 16 up here in (northern New England) so I can move up from a tiny O'Day Widgeon.

The Com-Pac community seems very upbeat about their boats and a 16 might be a great way for me to join.

ONE: Is there anyone in the New Hampshire area with one that would like to show it off?  I've never acutally seen on in the flesh.

TWO: Any advice on what to look for in a used one?

Thanks
Dan

Greetings!

I just noticed that we have a CP 16 for sail in the Northeast in our own classified section!  Just go back to the homepage and click on classified it will take you right to there.

We live in Seacoast NH and have a 1980 Com-Pac 16 that we have owned for 2 years. At this point we are seriously considering selling it as we don't use it enough. If you are interested please email us at barr5@comcast.net and we can answer some of your questions or show you the boat.

Dan
I'm a former CP-16 owner-- bought it new in 2001.  It was a great boat and the Hutchins family was great to deal with during the time it was being built.  I overnighted a few nights on it and was actually not too bad.  I sold it as there is not very good sailing in the St. Louis area in the summer, but miss the boat and sooner or later will probably buy one of the new C-16's that are coming out in June.  Good luck with your boat search.

Dan,
We have a 1981 Compaq 16 that I have totally rebuilt with tan bark sails and roller furling on the head stay.  It is used mostly on the NH lakes, but occasionally down on the Jersey shore.  I have sailed alot of boats and love this one for the ease of launching and sailing.  At 60 years old, I don't need a hassle and this boat fits the bill of quick and easy mast lifting...20 minutes to launch. Contact me and I'll send photos.  Located in Salmon Falls near Dover.

Hi Dan,
I'm looking to sell my 1987 '16 and then buy a COM-PAC '19. My boat is on Parker River (access to Plum Island Sound) in Newbury, MA.

Did you have any luck finding a boat?

I live just down the road from the Parker River.  How do you like sailing it?   Is it worth (or even possible) to get a mooring in the river there?   The only town access I have is to the Rowley river, but it's quite painful motoring out to the open water from there.
