Post by: mrtoad on March 17, 2014, 09:38:14 AM
the stern gas tank cover - a bit of an issue - a bit of a rattle , at times - difficult some times to get off and on

replacement ??   has anyone replaced this?  to make accessing the gas tank a bit more easy?  teak maybe?

I bought a teak organizer from West Marine and mounted that to the front of my CP-19 fuel tank cover. It not only holds things, but acts a handle.

A rattle? Buy some thin closed foam whether strip from AutoZone

skip.

MrToad,

I have a 19, and understand your pain.... it is a bit of a jerk to get it off, and that rattle is a bit of a issue usually happening when the engine is running sometimes.

I have seen someone make a teak grate on a smaller boat before. A bit of self adhesive foam on the cover itself will help with the rattle, but getting it off to access the tank, well, I have only got a suggestion. I grab the bottom a certain way and then pull upwards kind of pushing it towards the stern...... The description doesnt sound quite like what I do.... I guess its hard to describe....But with that trick, It comes off easier, but not so simply as I would like....
