I hope to stay for dinner this year ( and do better in the race). Key determiner is when all my kids have to be at school for college....

speaking of the race, i have an idea which may make it better. instead of all the boats starting at once lets have the smaller slower cp16s start about 20 minutes before the larger faster boats. then maybe we can reach the raft up location the same time. maybe 30 minutes makes more sense. what do you guys think?

Kick - Hey Mr. Official Race Starter Man.  Are you going to use that same timepiece for the start countdown that you had last year?  Oh that's right, you didn't have one.

B and I hope to attend again.  Got enough room on that 16 for crew?

Mike

no i wont be the official----im gonna leave that to mike c. hes the tech guy and besides small boats start first. hmmmm 4 on a 16? i kind of think that might be a few too many especially racing. i bet a 19 skipper can use a salty pair.

Hmmmm? Lime Bites on Island Time sounds like a good idea.  Nah, he won't take us either.  Capt. Mike wouldn't want all that extra ballast to slow his boat down during a race. We'll have to PM the other CP19 sailors to see what they are serving during the race.

or you could just buy my 16 (a larger boat may be in our future) then you can show these other swabbies how they sail up north

I think a pursuit race would work something like this

phrf for the 23's is 249
the 19 is 279
and the 16 is 326-335

this would be with standard jib and main, subtract -3 for a 135 or 150.
so lets say the 16 with sprit is 326 and without 335

So for standard 3 leg course 6 miles with standard jibs,

16's start 8 minutes 36 seconds before the 23's
16 with sprit 7 minutes 42 seconds before the 23's
19s 3 minutes before the 23's

at least this is my understanding, I have a friend who does this all the time, I will check with him.

How about placing all the libations at the finish line.    I think we'll all be amazed how much faster we sail with the right encoragement.

Interesting PHRF numbers.  Say, Mike G. and Bob 23, what are the PHRF numbers for those racing dinghies?  We need to know when to start you out for the race.

Since Squint is a homemade dinghy she doesn't have an official rating.  Bob's high priced fancy-schmancy Kevlar racing bullet, powered by one tequila infused operator, is off the charts.  Still, Bob is a wimp and would never show up.  I win again.

Starting the smaller boats out earlier than the bigger boats??  Withholding libations???  Maybe we have the crew on the bigger boats start drinking earlier and more often before the race starts?  I'm going to need a bigger boat!  Either way, it is always fun to see all these Com-Pac boats together and I am sure a good time will be had by all.

ok, how's this...

the 23s start 1st, followed by the 19s, and then the 16s. ???

doesn't sound fair?

here's what makes it even...

the 19s are connected to the 23s via bungees, ;D and the 16s are connected to the 19s!

if my math is correct, with sails up, it would give a slight advantage to the 16s because of the slingshot effect.

with sails down, all is even!

i see this working out perfect in my head so it must be right!  :o

here's the best part,  no one gets left behind or lost! ;)

Hey Greene: You talkin to me? ARE YOU TALKIN' TO ME?  "ARE YOU TALKIN' TO ME???" You've insulted my honor and I demand satisfaction. Dueling dingys at dawn. Be there...unless your'e chicken? Hahahaha...
Braccccckkkk...Bracccckkkkk...Braccccckkkkk!!!  Hahahaha...!!!!!
The only squint I can think of is you squinting to see me far off in the distance because I've pulled a zillion boat lengths ahead of you!!!! Hahahahahahahahahaha...in my Walker Bay 8!!

I just want everyone to know, that by looking at new sails, I would expect at this years race for me to possibly be 2 places ahead of last year...... which would put me in 1st place.

I am looking very hard at a new set of sails built for speed, because we all know the 19 was built to race.

Due to this very intriguing fact, everyone bring your A game.

Maybe the race should be broken into 16s, since we had so many, 19 vs 23, and then Greene and Bob23.
This to me would be equal, and the 19ers can 23 can sleep in, to allow the 16s to get a head start...... Did they ever show up at the finish line last year??

Anyway, God speed to all, you will need it, this winter I have been stepping up my knowledge..... we will be a threat to the previous trophy holders.

Kick- put me down for three attendees. My cousin is going to meet us out there and plans to attend our festivities.
If the torch is being passed for race committee lead, no fear I will bring a watch and horn.  And a map so no one can claim they didn't know where the finish line is!

Hey Bruce and Greene, I think Mac is talking to us. Let me know if you want to pitch in for a "participation" trophy for Mac and Ginger, that is if you think that's an appropriate honor for landing another 4th place finish.  "A" game...pa-lease newbie...  :D

Bracccckkkkk...Braccccckkkkk....Bracccckkkkkkkk!
Are there even PHRF numbers for planing hulls or are they meant for diplacement hulls only? I honestly don't know enough about these mysterious numbers...too busy winning dingy racing trophys! And then there's the matter of oars. Is it legal to use Guideboat oars on the dink "Little Fellow"? Or what about my 9 1/2 foot Alden oars? Legal? Of course it's legal...whatever it takes to silence the voices of accusation and win.
Besides, even if I don't show up, I still win by default. Of maybe a virtual race in which the CLR powers that be could act as judges. You wouldn't think of bribing them, now would you MG?

wouldnt everyone be surprised to see sarah and i in a non-com-pac boat this year. that would mean we need a new award presented at the saturday feast. im thinking "the texas doug award". any bowling trophy should do.  wonder how my new "j" boat will fare in the big race?
