Hello everyone. I am new to this forum and have started to really enjoy it. My name is Al Santini and I currently own a Precision 21 and an MCScow. The P-21 is on Pistakee Lake, which is part of the chain of lakes in northern Illinois. I race the MC on Lake Summerset, which is NW of Rockford, Illinois. I really love my P-21 but it is not allowing me to do the trailersailing that I want to. Stepping and unstepping the mast is a job and a half and even with my mast raising system it takes me about 2 hours to get in the water. For the past few years I have been at the BayView marina in a slip. I "think" the Eclipse might just be the answer. Any information on the Eclipse is appreciated. I have posted on the Eclipse side and the sailing tips side of the forum. Anyone want to trade an Eclipse for a super sharp 1998 P-21? I live most of the year in Elgin, Illinois and spend the winter in Nokomis Florida on the West coast. I sail down here on a friends P-23 on the Gulf. One last piece of information on me - I am a retired automotive teacher. I have been retired for 14 years. Fair winds to all. Al
Welcome Al. I just became a member last week and have received a warm welcome. Lots of good information and enthusiasm here. I grew up in Chicago but now live near the Left Coast in southern Oregon. Bought a 1982 CP19 last fall, sailed her a few times, and can hardly wait to hoist sails again in spring. Good luck with your Eclipse.
Fair winds,
Michael in Wonder
Hi Al and welcome. I too am a new member of this great forum and also a new Eclipse owner. My only problem is that while I own her, I won't take delivery until April since I live on Long Island and we are socked in with snow and ice. Wish I could tell you more about the Eclipse - everything I heard and read says its a great design and you (we) will love her but you will have to wait for my personal experience. Good luck

Ted,
Welcome to the forum and congrats on snagging an Eclipse. You may very well be the closest Eclipse owner here in the NE. I am anxious to hear where she came from, year and hull number. The Madame was excited that one of her sisters is in the neighborhood.

Thanks Allen-glad to be part of the forum. How close are we? I've seen your boat many times (great boat!) in posts but didn't take notice where you were. Pretty sure I have hull#74 but not positive yet...I bought the prototype Eclipse with the Diesel engine...Can't wait.

Ted,
The diesel on an Eclipse is an interesting setup. I am curious how they fit it in.
We are located about 30 miles south of Albany.

Wow, that's extremely interesting!!! An Eclipse witha diesel!!!
Yea apparently it is well balanced and they are now offering all Eclipses with the diesel as an option. It is located under the stairs it looks like. I haven't seen it yet but great story; My best fried who is a "build captain" and sailed around the world many times was heading to Tampa. I asked him to visit the Hutchins Yachts and check out a Horizon Cat (I've sailed Beetle Cats for years and was interested in. What he thought) He said the shipyard /builder was a great operation and extremely well built. He then said "but you really should be looking at this Eclipse-it will perform better up where we sail and they have a slightly used diesel prototype" (which I had considered actually first anyway so I knew of the boat). As they say....the rest is history.
So Allen you are up on the Hudson I assume...I am in Huntington mid-western Long Island sound.
