Just curiosity, is the SunCat self-righting?
Well, it does have a weighted keel, so yes. But, (at least the older ones) do not have positive foam floatation... so, if they do go over and the cabin fills with water... glub, glub. Having said that, there would have to be a LOT of things all going wrong at the same time. The design is such that when heeled beyond normal sailing angles, the rudder will lose authority and the boat will round up. I did once take a 40 knot gust on the side before getting the sail down... it pushed the rail to the water, but it didn't go any further. What a great little boat!
