We should post the requirement lists for the Everglade 300, the Texas cruise, or other such small boat preparation lists. These sailors are required to have all the important stuff for survival, some of which is required to be attached to the PFD. Does anyone have any of those lists?  We might not need the survival food for a week, but some modifications and the thought process involved, would be useful.  Armchair sailing is appropriate this time of year . . . in preparation for the real thing. Anticipating and preparing for the worst makes the real event the best.  For example, I would add to the list for C16 sailors, a set of corks or bungs recently posted elsewhere for the cockpit drain tube failure possibility. I am adding a pocket to my PFD to contain my submersible hand held marine band radio. I never really though about falling overboard before I read one of those lists.

Always good to keep in mind safety requirements. That list from Compac left out the requirement to carry at least one throwable (type IV) device.
