Hi, Folks,
This is my 3rd Com-pac; I had a CP 19 and then a Suncat, before veering off to a Precision and then a Seaward. I've been a trailer sailor all that time. Finally got to where I can keep a boat in the water, and I decided the hull shape and stability of the CP 23 was for me.
I live in Raleigh, sail out of New Bern, just on weekends until I figure out how to retire.
I've enjoyed reading various threads on this site, and hope to enjoy some sailing dialog.
Oh, the Tiger part is that I'm from Missouri, and it's the Mizzou Tigers I'm referring to.
I've had different boat names for each boat; going to see what occurs to me about this one.
Regards,
Bruce
Welcome to the fold, Bruce! (watch out for Bob23)
TG
Welcome! Are you the Bruce I met at Jordan Lake? (I am Mark from Raleigh with the CP16.) If so, I'm glad you are back on a proper boat!
Hi, Mark, yes, that's me! I keep the boat down at Blackbeard sailing club in New Bern. Sometime, you can come as my guest, sail with me, or bring your boat along. I'm very glad to have a proper boat again!

Bruce,
Welcome BACK to the pack (-Pac)!
Hope you enjoy your CP23.

Bruce,
Congrats on the CP23. I would love to go sailing with you on the Neuse sometime. I moved my boat down to Washington, by the way.
Back to the -Pac, haha, very good, Capt Nemo!
Mark, I have sailed out of Dinah's Landing just downriver from Washington a few times; nice trip to Bath, where you can stay overnight at the town dock.
Hi Bruce and welcome!
Love the line "Veering of to a Precision and then a Seaward". Glad you have returned to the fold. The sheep may wander but they always return!
Let me introduce myself: Bob23 from NJ and "Koinonia" 1985 23/2. A am the self appointed collector of the membership fees here. Normally, it costs a minimum of $5000.00 for basic membership. 23 owners get a discount, of course. But, Christmas is around the corner and after just enjoying 2 glasses of Chainti, I'm in a jolly, giving mood. Membership for you is free for life but don't let this get around or everyone will want there money back!
The 23 is indeed a proper yacht. I have spent many joyful hours at the helm, not caring too much about the destination- the voyage was reward enough. Looking forward to your contributions to this site- the greatest one in all the land!
Welcome,
Bob23
Thanks, Bob23, and mum's the word.
I just got an outboard for the boat; planning on taking it down to Oriental, NC next decent weather day, putting on the motor, getting ready and taking the boat up to New Bern to a slip there. I will hope to start early enough that I can sail as much as possible, but still get to the dock in the daylight for setting the lines and making sure of things before heading back to Raleigh to count the hours until the next sailing chance I'll have.
Tiger,
Welcome back to Com-pacs and the forum.
That Bob23 sure is being generous waiving fees. Good thing, because with all the extras he normally charges for people in your situation, it starts adding up fast. Returning Com-pac owner charge, social networking and re-introduction fees, un-named boat tax.
The NC winter sailing jealousy tax alone seems steep, but at least it's usage based tax and not flat rate. $200 per sail during months of Dec-Mar. $100 per sail Nov and April. Rest of year, no charge.
You've saved a bundle. More money for boat modifications!
Not to mention the "Unique Hull Color" charge I hit Salty with! Hey- I gotta make a livin', gents!
My 23 sits on her trailer awaiting winter hibernation in her canvas jammies. I'm in the beginning stages of the winter to-do list of which I will be guilty of not completing by spring.
Enjoy your time on the boat.
