Title: redesigned mast crutch
Post by: Cevin c Taylor on December 08, 2013, 02:24:22 PM
After some of the good comments on my previous post about my mast crutch, I got to thinking how I could redesign it to make it easier to remove.  So, with some free time over Thanksgiving, I got the welder and drill press out, and here's the end product.  It now mounts without tools, using two clip pins.  I can leave the tiller connected, and it does not interfere.  I still need to clean it up and paint it a bit more, but this gives you the idea.

Very nice design, about the easiest method I've seen yet, and it looks sturdy!

Thanks, Salty.  I'm pretty pleased with it, but again, it was Tim's suggestion that led me to redesign it.  One of my wife's chief complaints about sailing is the set up time to get underway.  Every little bit of time saved here and there helps.
