My buddy and I recently bought a 1984 Compac19 and will be saiing it on the mighty Hudson once we sell the Macgregor 25.
I am looking for a stanchion base. Has anyone any experience replacing a stanchion base. I'd like to replace it with one off of a compac. Please let me knowif you have one for sale or know where i could buy one.
Mac,
Where on the Hudson are you? Suzie and I launched out of Catskill last weekend and had a great sail south to Germantown. Sorry to hijack your post....

When I bought my CP-19, she had no stanchions and no stern pulpit.
I put these on and the 'bases' was a welded assembly. The ply wood hard point was already factory glassed in waiting for the 1/4-20 machine screws [not wood screws], washers, and nuts. No small feat with an XL overhead liner found in the 1996 CP-19.
A 1984, weren't he bases and stanchions separate?, either pop riveted or set screwed together? And are they aluminum? Therefore being a two piece, naturally 'wiggly' ?
I'd consider up dating to a welded design. Or filling the tubes with spray foam [Great Stuff] and cross drilling and bolting to the bases while the foam is wet and expanding. That might take the wiggle out of the assembly. Same for the bow pulpit. If your putting together 2 pieces, maybe find something in the West Marine catalog. That's probably where Hutchin's [Com-Pac] bought theirs for the boats.
As far as locating the bases, it's pretty obvious as the locations are molded into the deck.
skip.

we
We sail out of Croton/ Haverstraw Bay, just north of Croton Point Park. Give us a holla if your in the area. Would like to make the trip up to Roundout Creek one of these days.
Mac,
Haverstraw Bay is on list of places to visit. It is actually larger than some lakes we sail on. Where do you launch from?

We are on a mooring but Georges Island in Montrose has a nice ramp. If you want to anchor go to the area on the north sideof Croton Point Park. Good protection from the south wind, not so if its from the NW.
