Hi to all
My name is Don and i live in Port Huon in Tasmania Australia
I currently have a Spacesailer 20 fin keel but i am looking at something a bit larger to use as a weekend cruiser for myself and my wife and i have found a Com-Pac 27 for sale
http://yachthub.com/list/yachts-for-sale/used/sail-monohulls/com-pac-27-cruising-yacht/114796
These boats don't seem to be very popular in Australia and i would be interested to hear the views of any one who has one
Thanks in advance
Regards Don
Hi Don and welcome! While I don't know of any 27's down under, there are a few Aussies here at the site and I'm sure you'll have some answers soon. I sail a 23 here in NJ and although never owning a 27, I've had occasion to sail aboard one and I like 'em. There are a lot of 27 guys here so I'll turn it over to them. Again, welcome, Don!

Hello Don, at just over 1 year, I'm a relatively new 27 owner myself. That being said, I have not regretted the purchase. The boat is a little slow, but handles great and the lower draft opens up some options. I've had it in some pretty bad conditions (not by intention) and never felt uneasy, she handles the surf very well. Mostly, I'm doing day sails and the cabin simply provides a place for my kid to hang out once he gets bored or my mother in law to take her afternoon nap. I've also done several over nighters and a few extended trips, the longest being 5 days. In those cases, I found the space more than adequate with the proper planning.
One caution I would express is that the electronics are going to drive you crazy. My setup is similar, and it boils my blood every time I'm sitting behind the wheel. What you see in the photo is exactly what you are going to see if directly behind the helm - which is nothing. I have plans to move mine, but haven't worked up the initiative.
