I am relacing the teak and holly sole in my '82 CP23 with a new piece that extends into the v-berth area. I have removed the old sole. Any suggestions on the type of caulk or sealent to use? Also, the moldings covering the bulkhead entrance where tightly pressed into the old sole. I have temorarily re-installed them with shims. Should they be reinstalled on top of the sole or shimmed and the new sole fitted around the shims? Thanks!
Our 1985 C-23 sole was free floating with the trim screwed through the side of the trim into the side berth frames holding the sole in place. Caulk or Sealent really was not used in our boat and can't really think of any reason to use it. When we replaced our sole; we beveled the leading edge and kind bumped the sole under the bulkhead. All of this mirrored what came out of the factory so I believe it is done correctly.
