Title: keel 1983 23ft.
Post by: findtime on May 27, 2013, 09:06:40 AM
some time ago was anchored at anclote. keel was full of water. only thru hull fittings are cockpit drains. checked fitting and are good. pulled boat. it has been sitting on the trailer for a month and still have drips from the forward or leading edge of the keel. i can only suspect the fiderglass covering the cement ballast is compromised. allowing water to be drawn into the cement. any ideas?

I would check the bow eye first to insure it is not the culprit. If the keel is dripping there must be some damaged area on the keel. Does the keel have some visible damage or cracks which could allow water in to the keel? It is common for bow eyes to leak over time. Good luck!

Your post is a little confusing. The way I read it your saying you found water in the bilge while at anchor, now the boat has been on the trailer for a month and water is leaking OUT of the keel onto the ground? If that is correct, sand off the bottom paint where the leak is and see if it is cracked/chipped there.
