Hello all,
Well it's been a few months that I've been working on my boat. My neighbor gave me the tubing from his old bimini. I cut it down to the proper size and covered it with some "pink" canvas that someone had given me. Yes you guys it's pink :)...after all it is a "girl" boat and I do live in the Keys ha ha ha. So for the price of the hardware waaaa laaaaa a new bimini!!

I hand painted the name and number on...yes pink of course!!!

Some blue indoor outdoor carpeting and binding made from the pink canvas made a nice addition under my feet.

I've since added a new ladder and wait till you see the sails....pics to follow.
It's been quite breezy here with some major gusts so it's been a good time to work on her. Water temp is finally up in the high 70's so maybe some pics from the water next time.
Just wanted to add that I LOVE all the posts on this sight and it's been most helpful!!!
I hope no one falls over when you see the pink and blue Miss Ellie ha ha ha
Till next time...
Dawn
Pink is fine, looks great and appears you have the gift of DIY......................nies
Great job! keep it up! ;D
Take some pics of your surroundings so my wife and I can dream of Florida........ LOL
I am sure your water is nicer looking than ours is at our lake. :D
Mac
Very impressed by the hand painted lettering! Nice work! Wish I had skills like that.

Very cool, Dawn and great work! Gotta be the first pink bimini I've ever seen but it looks cool! Do you have a pink flamingo as a mascot for the boat? Hahahaha...! I think the pink and blue combination work great. Maybe a few pink accents on the trailer might look nice too. It's refreshing to see the work of a talented painter who is not afraid of color.
Bob23- I love my pink shirts! It's a guy thing!

Hey Mac... I can't wait to get out on the water and start taking more pics.....dang wind though....18 to 20 is too much for this newbie to attempt though...and why does it always seem to pick up on the weekends when I'm off Arghhhhhh...oh well with 365 days of sailing available here I'm sure I'll get cut a break sooner or later ha ha ha
Dawn
Hayward, Wis. still a foot of snow on ground and lake still frozen, Walleye opened did not happen yesterday....................enjoy and never complain about the hum. or heat, if we could get out of here we would be with you........................nies
Ok Dawn don't tell my you have pink sails. Not that I'd put it past you. Or that there's anything wrong with pink sails.
A few years ago there was a girl here with a 23 named Blonde Ambition. Yeah, she was blonde and wrote some great stories about her sailing adventures and misadventures. And she found this broght yellow bottom paint somewhere! Classic.
Bob23
Nope no pink sails but they're pretty cool just the same :)
no way there's still snow out there ??? unbelievable!!!! I guess I should not complain about water temps under 80 degrees then huh??
Ah, no Dawn:
You should not in any way conceivable in any fashion complain about water temps below 80. One of those snow-bound Compac-o-nauts might just send you down a dump truck full of snow!
Hahahaha.....!!!!!
Bob23
Great work, Dawn!
I love seeing someone who loves their boat and goes the extra miles to really enjoy it.

I am driving down to Sugarloaf Key for a week of camping and mischief starting Wednesday. I was on the fence about towing the boat all the way down and braving the dreaded tidal currents but this single photo has steeled my resolve. Incidentally, if I am lost to sea this week, you are %5 to blame.
Love Sugarloaf!!! If you get lost at sea holler!! Maybe I'll run into you at Sugarloaf Tiki bar ha ha ha....and no way a dump truck full of snow would be awesome!!!!
I wonder if my wife will take offense if I start calling her "sugarloaf" ?

I am a little worried about making headway against a tidal current back into the channel. I will be watching the current charts closely so I am returning on a slack tide, but do you have any other tips for sailing a slow boat in fast water?
so you're really bringing your boat down??? way cool!!! i haven't been out enough to have enough experience with the tides yet :(..sorry...are you guys staying at the sugarloaf lodge??? or camping at the koa?? i'll be playing guitar at the koa sat. night with my husband....stop by if you aren't lost at sea :)

Just talked to the bartender(for information only) and he confirms 7:00. If that wasnt enough of a clue, wr've made it down safely, despite a stuck emergency brake and my non-stop worrying about the trailer hubs. I'll be the gooffy looking guy with the inexplicably beautiful wife and 5 year son. My name is Bert, if the need to curse it shall ever arise.
Tomorrow I sail for Looe key to go diving. If I am not there to say hi on Saturday, send the coast guard to look for me about 40 miles adrift east. Tell them to bring beer, I'll be thirsty.
Ok Bert!! Well hopefully we'll get to meet you and your family tonight. If you are stuck at sea we'll definetly send beer out with the Coast Guard ha ha ha
