We're hearing about all this rain, snow melt and major flooding. Is this hitting any of you mid-western Compac-o-nauts? Hope everyone is safe.

Not me personally, but our daughters basement flooded, ruining the kids playroom and her husbands recording studio and instruments.
Several dozen people at work were evacuated from their homes on Friday, and just today they were allowed back to get essential items.
I've seen pictures of their homes sitting in 6 feet of water. Most of them live in Marseilles, IL, which is on the Illinois river.
All that water is headed for the Mississippi. Southern Illinois and Missouri, watch out!
The original style Mac Donald's in Des Plaines, Illinois, a suburb North of Chicago is half under water.
It's a corporate display with the correct 50's something model cars and is fenced off, but it's just a static display.
Additionally the former corporate head quarters of STP is just done the street. I assume with water in it.
We need the water to fill the Great Lakes so I can take the wheels off the bottom of my boat.
I know Marseilles, the 'P's had houseboats in Starved Rock, Illinois.
Roads not yet open in Des Plaines
-->Officials in a Chicago suburb hit hard by flooding say the earliest roads will reopen is Tuesday.
The (Arlington Heights) Daily Herald reports ( http://bit.ly/15wtwSq) that city leaders in Des Plaines met Sunday morning to discuss the flooding.
City Manager Mike Bartholomew says that the water level is receding and was about 10.19 feet early Sunday morning. He says city officials are waiting for it to go down to 8 feet and then city workers will have to clean roads and inspect them to make sure they're safe for travel.
Gov. Pat Quinn has declared 44 counties as state disaster areas following flooding.

Carlyle lake I think is coming up 7 feet from where it sat before, putting us at 450.5
I will check on that number when I go back to work Tuesday, as I am sure we will be briefed for possible flood prep. We still have several feet to go before we have to start doing things.... but we always like to be prepared for the worst.

well the flooding killed my chance to sail today. the lake is up and apparently is gonna be on the rise cause they pulled out all of the docks. hey carl is your boat still at west access? if so give us a yell when you come down and we will go out to eat. that jason knows his stuff.
Now the crest at Carlyle will be 453.3 on Saturday April 27th.
That is 1.5 to 2 feet from us emptying the Galley which is the Marina Club House.
Lets hope that doesn't happen......
Also a note to anyone traveling in the area, free lake water! Take as much as you want just take it out of the watershed!

I was supposed to take delivery of my brand new Horizon Cat today in Peoria which is on the Illinois River but there is no Marina to accept it!!! Totally under water. River crested here yesterday just shy of 29.5 ft. Flood stage is 19 ft. Current level is highest ever recorded. Wish we could flush this back up to the Great Lakes where it is needed.
With the flooding the Illinois River near and around Peoria, I suppose the gates are full open at the locks with only markers and trees to help guide boats shooting down river and those plowing up river. Is the lock master's office under water? I remember tying the houseboat up to a stop sign at Pierre Marquette State Park in Alton, Illinois where the Illinois dumps into the Mississippi River and rowing the dog ashore. Watch out for the logs and debris washed off the beach and into the river.

i stopped by hazlett park on my way home from indy today. the parking lot is closed-----hate to miss a 78 degree sailing day tomorrow. im hoping that in a week i might get the boat wet-----i can always leave it out in the rain i guess. hey subsailor------we really need a horizon cat at the clr this year. that would be sweet indeed------
I would love to attend the clr especially since it is downstate Il. However, I still have a Carver 36 aft cabin up in Kenosha, Wi and the family will be spending 4th of July week there. As I still need to work for a living can't do it all.
