Bruce Bingham is presenting The Joys of Trailer Sailing at Boca Ciega Yacht Club March 21. Social hour 6 with the presentation at 7. This is a free event. Bruce will cover all aspects of trailer handling - His presentations are always very informative and you will laugh a lot.
This time members of the West Coast Trailer Sailing Squadron will be there too. Unbeknownst to us at the time HideAway played a big role in the formation of the squadron as did BCYC.
So come on down to Gulfport and share your stories with some old salts and a few new ones. If you have a Com-Pac 16 or 19 you will want to talk to the WCTSS folks. If I could figure out an easy way to trailer sail my 23 I would join this group - in many ways I guess I already have.
There is more information on my blog below.
I will do my best to make this.
I have sailed with the WCTSS down at Cayo Costa and had a great time.
And believe it or not, my last name is Bingham too!!! ;D
Well what a bummer, Hideaway, I was there and didn't meet you! Hadn't seen this post until today. I'm in the WCTSS and was sitting near Ron and other members. Guess I wasn't enough of a social butterfly! I plan to tow my 16 down there soon so hopefully we'll meet then.

Forever 16
Pam - I was the guy with the white beard talking with Ron at length just before the presentation got underway- I was sitting with other club members by the computer = west door. I think you guys out numbered the BCYC members by quite a bit - But considering the average club boat length is about 30 feet that is to be expected. Bruce is right about the our trailer sailors - There are only about four of us that sail regularly. Did you see the HideAway- first boat in the center line. we are now the only Compac in the club.
I met Dan the fellow who has hull number one of the 23s. He is in the middle of an extensive rebuild. removed the concrete ballast to install lead and a water tank. He plans to power it with a diesel. He figures the easiest way to accomplish that is to lift the deck off - yikes. So far he has ground the gelcoat off the underwater hull and will completely remake the interior. Hull 1 is going to be one special boat. HideAway - hull 2 is already jealous even though she has a new main sail.
Ron and I go way back. He used to be one of the premier racers and cruiser in the club - until I let him sail my Magic Pearl that is. More about that is on my blog below. I may sail a "big boat" now but my heart is with the pocket cruisers of the world.
BCYC will have an open house April 27th called fun day. I ll post more on this later - We will be on our annual big a cruise - Sail On Matt
