Title: Working with my Wife :)
Post by: MacGyver on February 18, 2013, 08:10:45 PM
 :)
Got started today on "Together Time" and have about half the rudder foamed in process for the foil job.
I am making a movie of it, so watch for that.

My wife came out and she used some of the man caves tools to help me remove the ladder, rudder stuff, and the motor mount.
We also removed the ports as they need resealed.

Typically at work our smaller guy goes into the spaces on boats, and half of that time, I have to...... so I wasnt too worried about going into the transom to get at the nuts. My big issue is I am not a small guy, so I had to shimmy through the bunks on both sides and lay on my back, then come out backwards on my back........

Needless to say I took a nap after that..........

It was nice to work with the wife, and she gets to see what kinds of things I do for a living. I think the real incentive for her was working with the shop tools, she likes em.......

That's great! And a gateway for more and better tool purchases! Not saying that's your motive, of course!
Even though her dad was a builder and I'm a builder, Admiral Linda has no inclination toward working with tools at all. Heck, she doesn't really enjoy sailing either...last summer was the first time we had a real sail together...in 7 years of CP 23 ownership! But, she's a heck of a garderer...literally everything she touches grows incredibly! Now if I could only develope that into a money making endeavour...legally, of course!
I'll tell you sometime about how I got stuck upside down in the cockpit locker of my 23. Let's say that over the years, my girth has increased a bit and after going in head first to run a bilge pump line, I found myself unable to get out...and no one was around. My first thought was " What a dishonorable way to die- upside down in a sailboat in the driveway...not exactly going down with the ship!" It was a bit disheartening, to say the least!
Best to you and your projects...and thanks for sharing all your knowledge with us!

You're wife has good taste, I love my Milwaukee 18 volt 1/4" impact driver, I use it way more than I thought I would. I keep eyeing the 1/2" impact (475 ft/lbs. torque) for working on the truck/trailer, but just can't justify the cost yet.
