1983 Compac 23 sailboat and I've made a few posts in the forums here this year. I absolutely LOVE this boat. However, in these times of drought I haven't been able to sail in 4 months and she is slung up supported from the marina dock structure with her keel in the mud. We are getting water put into the lake here in a few weeks and it should be just enough for me to sail her for a week or two to say my goodbyes and then load her back onto the trailer as I do not expect the lake level to sustain an enjoyable sailing season this year. I am afraid that the drought will continue through the year and I would feel much better moving down to a light trailer sailer (cp16 if anyone want s to make a trade and cash) that I can drive to the water with my jeep instead of hoping the water comes to me.
She has been well cared for and title is clear and tags current, doesn't leak a drop at all (as evidenced by the brand new sump I have never wired up the entire time she has been slipped this year as I never once saw water in the keel trunk space). She was converted by the PO into a capable cutter rig with a standard jib and a roller furling staysail (CDI FF2). The bow pulpit was added and is longer than the more modern 23's and this allows the boat to sail faster and point higher. The traveler is a center transom mounted adjustable traveler similar to catalina 22 setup but beefier.
Sails: Mainsail has two reefing points and is still very crisp but I believe is the original main. I have installed lazyjacks and the mainsail cover is in excellent shape, the roller staysail is covered with a jibsock I sewed up myself. I also have a catalina 22 main sail as a backup main, and I also have a spinnaker that I have never personally flown but it is in excellent shape as well and the boat is rigged for flying it. (5 sails total)
It comes with a 8hp Suzuki DT-8 (mid to late 80's) pull-start motor with forward/neutral/reverse and has never left me stranded (although I probably need to clean the carb as I let it sit with gas). 80's I believe, I'll update the posting as I verify the information.
Also, it has an excellent bimini that totally gets in the way of a tall person trying to navigate and work two halyards and three sheets and a furling line while sailing with company and trying to maintain nautical sanity. Excellent condition most likely because it has been off of the boat due to the above noted reason, but is a heaven send in the summer heat with a noon Oklahoma sun on full blast.
It has a new stereo, new speakers including two 6" stereo speakers in the cabin next to the bulkhead and two cb style speakers mounted on swing out panels for listening to the radio while sailing. Lowrance Mark 4x DSI fishfinder/chartplotter/gps knotmeter that was purchased last year. All interior lights have been re-wired, it also has a new switch panel. It comes with a 5w solar panel with charge controller mounted to the stern rail, the battery is only a year old. It has all cushions, chemical toilet, oars, 4-6 standard orange type II life-vest and two nicer type 3 vests as well, all adult sized. I have fishing pole mounts for each side, and there's a lot of extra gear I'm forgetting that I list specifically as soon as possible.
The trailer is a double axle trailer with a brakes, I can't tell you if it is factory or not.
The few minor issues: the mast is not wired, although I have a new steaming/deck light that I intended to install this year. It has a davis wind vane that is mounted on the stern rail instead of the mast, but I prefer it this way, although I don't see why you can't mount it at the mast head since the mast will be coming down for travel anyways. There is one scratch in the gelcoat on the starboard bow above the waterline, down to the fiberglass. It does not take on water and I'm just haven't patched it, it's about 6" long and annoys the hell out of me because I am OCD. If that affects price I will go out this week and patch it. No blisters that I can see (and I have good access to see since it is hanging above the mud right now). It has teak rails that are not installed and I never needed them but the holes are there (sealed, mind you) if you want to put them back on. The teak could use a good cleaning and sealing.
All lines are led to the cockpit. Has a winch up top for halyards, one each side on the coamings for sheet trim. I'll take a more recent pic than I have to show the rigging, cleats, etc. Most of the lines are new or in excellent condition although I did cheap out on a couple of them with Lowe's poly :(. Standing rigging is great.
Ask away, I live less than a mile from the boat and I visit it weekly if not daily. I got a good deal on it when I purchased it from the son of a sailor who went to the ocean beyond, and I have put more work and time and money into it than I care to recount. I am asking $5000 which I believe is a fair deal, or a trade for a CP16 and cash. Cash is preferred as I intend to be buying a certain ceremonial hand ornament for my female counterpart in the near future (Lord I hope she doesn't read these forums).
I don't think the trailer has a title, OK doesn't require trailers be registered.

I don't have a 16, although there are several for sale here in FL....
What are you asking for cash wise?
5000 obo, I created a listing for it on CL. I am willing to negotiate however, especially for a smaller sailboat.

Miss Penny is now sold and on her way NW!
Congratulations on making your sale! I just looked at your photos...what on earth happened to your lake? Which lake is it...or was it?
It was/is Lake Hefner, which is a really decent sailing lake but it's actually one of the city's main water supply lakes and with the drought still in effect the city canceled all wet slip renewals for 2013 unless conditions improve...for now, I'm probably going to get back into kayak fishing so I can still enjoy the lake when it's too low to launch a sailboat until a cp-16 falls into my lap :)
Hey Dave,
Just wanted to touch bases with you and say Thanks! Naturally I am a Compac addict and I couldn't be happier to get her. You delievered everything you said and I appreciate you dealing with me over long distance. I also appreciate the work you put in to the ol girl and I will post here regularly on my changes to her. I have a penchant for perfection and will have my own embellishments into the girl soon. One thing Dave: That name is gonna change (we talked about that). My sweetie suggested "Miss Piggy" instead of "Miss Penny", but, shoot, I don't listen to her anyway. <grin>
What a long journey with the boat. I finally figured out how to tie everything down good. Without the keel guides, this baby will walk all over the trailer. So, here is a few pics of hauling the CP 23 2300 miles:

Note the New winch, the one on the trailer broke the swaged fitting on the hook immediately. Also Note that I rigged a "T" brace to hold the mast onto front pulpit. It rests on the steel brace, not the wood on the bottom. I arranged the bungies too.
On that short distance from picking up the boat and arriving at my Dad's house in Clayton, OK, there were a few bumps along the way. Em, you know, Oklahoma roads?
This made the whole boat jump to the side. So I had to stabilize the keel somehow and prevent a lateral movement.

Note the 2x4 boards screwed into the board supporting the keel. This prevented the lateral jumps by the boat.
We stopped at Wilson's Arch in Moab Utah. I usually travel that route to WA because I hate the long lonely stretch through Wyoming if you go the standard route.
