After a year of owing our 1987 CP-16-2 we have decided on a name.
"SISKIWIT"
The Siskiwit is a Native American name for a strain of the coaster brook trout (Michigans State Fish since 1988) that makes its home along the shores of Lake Superior and spawns in the streams that flow into the BIG lake from the surrounding states and the province of Ontario, Can. Two of those streams are the big and little Siskiwit rivers that flow into Lake Superior from Isle Royale National Park. Since the Com-Pac 16 is not a Great Lakes boat, more of a coastal sailer "coaster", we decided on that name.

"SISKIWIT"
Love the name Doug :!:
Congratulations on the name! :D
I and my family are very close to choosing one for our CP16. We have a few names floating about and I hope to make the final decision by months end. I'll be sure to let you all know.
I like your name choice for your boat. When I bought my 1977 CP16 it had the name "Iota". I looked it up and found out that "Iota" is the ninth letter of the Greek alphabet and in English it means "small amount" or "a little bit". I thought that was about as practical a name for a small sailboat that I could think of. Anyway, I didn't want to push my luck with the renaming gremlins I've heard of. Best of luck and sailing with "Siskiwit".
It's interesting how we choose names for our boats. I like names that show some thougth and creativity.
