Title: Porthole Screens
Post by: ribbed_rotting_rusting on November 10, 2012, 05:54:40 PM
My wife often uses these round frying  screens for stovetop cooking to cut down on grease that cost about  $.6.00 . They end up with rips because she uses the dish washer to clean them. I was looking for something to use to screen some used oil to look for metal and asked to use her old ones. Since then I have found many uses for them. They come in different sizes, all circular and do not rust. Since then I have also used her old vegetable "colanders " I think they are called, also no rust. The both come in various opening sizes, very fine to coarse. i have also used them to repair holes in window screens caused our dogs. I think you could get more than one porthole screen if round and at least one if later  model oval . I like the fact they are her rejects but even new I think pretty cost effective and easy to find.  Mike
