Title: Bunk extension modification
Post by: Spartan on October 27, 2012, 10:12:34 PM
So today was official end of sailing season for this year, pulled my boat from her slip and she is stored until April 15 2013 so the countdown starts  :)

In the mean time I've often thought about how to make sleeping aboard a little more comfortable.

I saw this mod on the Eastern NC craigslist for a nice looking CP16 for sale

Has anyone else tried something like this?

I have thought about it.  Looks like a good idea.

Kickinbug - did you do it for increased width, doesn't seem like it'd would give any addition length if I'm understanding correctly

So the 'vee birth' area ahead of the normal quarter birth bulkhead has now become part of a longer quarter birth. And the only thing ahead of this new, longer quarter birth would be a small anchor chain rode area.

OK there may be some additional storage area 'tween the new quarter birth and the old quarter birth under it. Maybe remove the factory quarter birth clean down to the glassed hull. Then glue down a thin carpet just for looks and a more comfortable feel.

skip.
