Need a gas tank for a 16/3 Raven. Got a low 3 gallon from West. It is too tall for the hinged teak grate. Earlier boats had a lazarette. This is open cockpit with a teak grate over it.
Anyone know of a very low profile gas tank?
Hello chaz5131,
I have the same cockpit w/ teak grate. I had to look around as well to find one that fit. I purchased a Attwood 3-gal. tank at Academy Sports that fits perfect. Should be able to see it on there website.
Thanks, Captain.
Keep your fuel tank in the cockpit where heavy gasoline fumes can escape through the cockpit drains.
Fuel tanks in lazarettes or anywhere else below can result in explosive fumes in the bilge because gasoline fumes are heavier than air and can't escape the bilge.
Gasoline explosions are a serious hazard so please keep your flamables in the cockpit.
Pacman-
The newer versions of the CP16 does not have the same cockpit as the earlier CP16 version 1 models. Instead of the cover over the lazarette, it's a dedicated fuel locker that does not vent to the interior. There is a teak grate covering the tank. Perfectly safe...
Decide on the size needed, shear up the pieces out of aluminium, add the threaded nipples and have a welding shop TIG it up. Cannibalize the pick-up tube, and cap and plug in fuel connections from any 'O plastic tank.
skip.

That is an excellent improvement. Good for ComPac!
