A while back someone noticed the step at the base of our companionway and wondered what it was. We finally took a couple pictures of it this weekend. It is a super solid bottom step for our companionway, a cabin table and cockpit table all in one. This step/table was in our 23 when we bought her, so the PO must have built it. They did a really nice job building it as it is strong and attractive.
It provides a wide solid step when climbing down into the cabin and fits perfectly in the cockpit as a table as well. It holds four drinks in place on outside edges. The carpet insert lifts out and there is a placemat underneath to use when it is used as a table.

thanks. looks like a good idea.
Very nice, Mike. It seems like it would be simple to build. Maybe that'll be a winter project for my boat. Hey- that would make a great chart table for the cockpit. Maybe some plexiglass to lay over the chart to keep it in place during windy days. I have a lot of 3" riff sawn white oak flooring
left over from a job that's just looking for a home.

One of Brenda's specialties. Open can, pour out contents.
