I say "restoration" because there was not really a lot of structural work involved, mostly cosmetic. The boat was in fair condition, but had been neglected over the years. The one structural issue was tracking down and fixing an elusive leak in the deck/hull seam. I also repaired a lot of nicks and gouges on the bottom before painting. I removed all old graphics and applied new. Removed all wood, varnished, and reinstalled. I removed most of the deck hardware and re-seated it with silicone seals (looking for that darn leak!). Reconditioned the hull which was badly faded and chalky. Applied new water line and accent line. Added antifouling bottom paint because I keep her moored in the water. Rechristened her as "Brown Eyed Girl" (she had no name before so I think I am exempt from asking Neptune's permission). Added spreaders to the mast (the originals were missing). New running rigging. Recently added the foil rudder from Rudder Craft.

What type of varnish did you use?
Nothing fancy. Stripped and sanded extensively. (Much easier to do when the wood is removed from the boat) Then applied teak colored stain and "Helmsman" oil based high gloss varnish bought at local hardware store. About 9 coats with gentle sanding in between coats.
