Title: Introducing the “Madame”
Post by: Eagleye on July 24, 2012, 07:18:02 PM

Admiral Suzie and I have been sailing our Eclipse every weekend since the middle of May.  Up until last week she has remained unnamed to all.  (The Eclipse..not Suzie.)   We finally eradicated the shadow of her old name, purchased the graphics and installed them before we left for a weeks worth of sailing at Seneca Lake, NY.

So May I introduce the "Madame Z".    This as at the marina in Watkins Glenn at the south end of Seneca Lake.

Please excuse the sloppy sail cover.  We had just stepped the mast and had to unzip the cover to do so.
It was an awesome week with some really great weather.  As newbies we learned a lot and accepted the fact that we still have a long way to go.  The highlight for the week had to be sailing for 4 hours in 12 to 16 knots "under control"!  Reefing really works!

The last day Suzie encouraged me to do my first single-handed sail.   OK...there is nothing like it!!!!
I cruised the lake for 2 hours while she got some pics of me and the Madame playing together.

We have come to realize that the Madame is a wonderful creature and she will take care of us as we learn and grow with her.

Thank You All,
Allen & Suzie

Great photos Eagleye, the shot with the boat tied up is now my desktop background.

The photo is my incentive to one day get an Eclipse.  I live in Australia and my plan is to import a used boat, but at this stage it all looks very complicated, time consuming and expensive.

Cheers
Clint.

Welcome, Clint. You might want to get in touch with Keith Scott at The Sailboat Company (sailboat@ipass.net). He's a long-time sailboat dealer, a Com-Pac specialist, and has posted on his web site about exporting used Com-Pacs overseas.

Welcome Clint,
I had the privilege to spend some time in Australia about 8 years ago.  We were in Sidney and Melbourne but the best part if the trip was the time we spent in Cairns.  It is a very beautiful area and the highlights were visiting the rainforest and scuba diving in the Great Barrier Reef.
I'm glad you liked the pics and I hope your dreams work out for you.

There is a Com-Pac dealer in Australia.

Blue Reef Yachts Pty Ltd

They look to be just south of Brisbane.  I don't know if that is anywhere near you but it is just a thought.

Good Luck and Best Wishes,
Allen

Hey Kick,
I still have all my Eclipse searches running.  If anything pops up I'll pas it along.  What is your location?
I know there is an 04 in Maine but she has hull blisters and I spoke with the owner and they are prepared to sell it at a bargain price, much lower than they have advertised.  I can send you the link if you like.

i think it will be a while before i move up in the com-pac fleet. i appreciate the interest however. when that time does come i may need some help tracking one down. im guessing a 19 is more realistic money wise, but i sure do love the looks of that eclipse. the plumb bow is an eyecatcher.

Those pictures are better than those on the Com-pac website.

Eagleye, Great pics.  The finger lakes area is beautiful. I had a chance to visit there when my daughter was doing her college search a couple of years ago.  Hobart and Wiliam Smith in Geneva was just breathtaking.  It turned out to not be her favorite but it was mine.  She wound up going to Hamilton so we do get up there a couple of times a year.  Drove up to Clinton in May to pack her up for summer, a quick 48 hour round trip so we didn't get to see the lakes this time.  The Madame is beautiful as well, glad you are enjoying her.  Hopefully I'll be picking up my eclipse a week from tomorrow and starting my keelboat journey.  I have a lot to learn.    If the stars align maybe I'll drag it up there some time and we can sail together.  It's only 13 hours each way!

Fair winds and good luck,
