B and I took Wrinkles up to Door County for four days of sailing. We were joined by our sailing buddies on their Hunter 235 in Ephraim at the Fireman's Municipal Marina. The winds were forecast for 5-10 knots, but ended up 10-15 knots except for Sunday which was a lazy day of light winds.

We had hoped to have our new main sail for the trip, but it didn't arrive in time. We set the old main sail up loose footed just to give it a try, but ended up sailing with a reef in it most of the time. When we did unreef we could see the advantage of going with the loose foot as it would give us a nice sail shape.
Lots of good sailing, great food and too many places to buy ice cream made for a great sailing trip.

If you get a chance you should trailer up to this area and enjoy the wonderful marinas, sailing grounds, restaurants and scenery. It is a beautiful area with a sailing culture. We love to sail around the numerous small islands and pull into the small town marinas to explore the area. Sailing into Fred and Fuzzy's waterside outdoor bar/restaurant near Sister Bay has become a must do each time we come to Door County. Their docks are typical of the area and we laugh each time we pull up to them. We need to stand on top of our cabin and pull ourselves up just to tie off the boat. Our trailer sailor is big to us, but small for these parts.

I live in the Chicago area and have often thought of trailering my CP23 up to Door County. Thanks for inspiring me with the sharing of your trip.

Yep, out sailing in the bay of Green Bay on the CP-19 on Friday, Saturday, and with variable winds, Sunday...had a blast.

We go up there each year (this was year three) and wish we had more time to spend sailing the area. If you are interested we posted about the two previous trips in our blog. We are currently posting this years trip.

Couldn't agree more! It's a great area. I've got a project CP-16 in the garage right now down here in Winchester, VA (long story), but just returned from a week at our cottage on Sand Bay, near Sturgeon Bay. Beautiful area and your descriptions are spot on.
