This 1978 boat has damage the seller says is repaired but not painted. Being in a crucial location like that I have to wonder. $2500 is too much for this boat with an old, Johnson motor. It is sad too see one in that condition.
I have been looking for some time now so I know what they are going for.
Am I wrong?
I would agree with you. We have a 16 on the lot worth around 3 grand.
I is in need of a good cleaning and has a newer motor on it.
Not for sale but my boss and I looked at it and tried to contact the owner to see if we could buy it.
I would have to see pictures of this boat you are talking about but id say sight unseen 2500 is asking too much for it. It would have to have a number of extras in good shape to make it worth it.

Rickwick,
I could not find the 16 on ebay. $2500 is too much for a less than excellent '77. I believe the pre 1980 CP-16s had some balsa coring and were netorious for leaks around the cabin hatch.
Have you looked at the 1990 16 in Casseberry,Fl? It is on the Orlando Craig's list asking $4,000. Only one picture shown. Sounds like a good unit and not too far from you. Duggest you take a good look at the trailer with any boat. If the boat is poor the trailer is often worse.
Good luck and have fun searching.
Seems way too high.
i agree with salty. if i sold my 81 it would be less than $2000.

carry-on, I spoke with him today and will see it tomorrow. I say I want a 19 but there are so many 16's and they seem to be such bargains. I am tempted.
The pics with the ad for "Sweet Dreams" shows what I believe is a 16 and a 19 side by side...what a difference!
I also read an ad for a 16 where they talked about a 3 day trip with 2 people, I am only 1. (My lady friend says she will not be sailing with me!)
I also want to see the 16 in West Palm Beach for $4250, she looks very clean.
Rick
Is it just me or does this seem like a $1000.00 boat, max?
bob23
$800
OMG.........WOW....... Stay away from that..... and that repair looks like bondo......... could be that the epoxy hardener is affected by humidity and turned redish (which isnt a bad thing, just slight performance issues but nothing critical....) and if it is bondo, or even bondo glass, that is junk, Bondo will soak up water....
Id save your money and walk away.....hell I would run away unless you got it for 500.
Just my opinion, but I being a repair guy would give much more that 500 for it, all of it, cause there is a lot of work there. A boat is a money pit as it is, so dont let one suck you dry before you even get it home.
Mac
HELL< There is that Doug guy in the classifieds selling his 19
Buy that, I am outrageously happy with ours!
As I read farther, the guy said it was repaired after a storm in 2001..... that repair is probably UV damaged..... and may no longer be structurally sound, Epoxy has no UV protect, which is why you must paint it.........
Any questions Let me know...... Good luck.
Rickwick,
The unit in WP has a foiled rudder and a gas outboard. Pluses! IMO. The diagram shown in the WP craigslist is for a 19 not a 16.
Both the Casselberry boat and the WP show furlers, a plus or minus depending on your preference.
If you really want a CP-19 and can handle the rig alone, keep looking. There were only 624?? made compared to about 3000 CP-16s, so the hunt is tougher, but the 19 is a different league for space.
Only 625 19s made, that is why I'm not finding many. I thought people were just hanging on to them. I think they are selling their 16s to move up.
I was not considering the 16 on ebay, just commenting on it.
Going to look at a 16 in Orlando today. No motor, but a 1990 model. Thanks for the advice carry-on.
If that "Doug guy" wants to bring her to Fla we will talk, 3000 miles I can't do. I do appreciate his ad with all the pictures.
There is a 97 CP 19XL on Craigslist in Charleston SC this week (July 8, 2012)

I saw this boat in Casselberry yesterday and learned 2 things. One, 16's are small (duh), and Four, Craigslist ads don't always have a recent photo. The boat in the ad looked nice enough, clean....not so when I arrived to see it. He took the gas motor off to sell separately, the rigging is in very bad shape and would have to be replaced, there are places (holes) on the hull while not structurally bad they are more then just gelcoat problems. The roller furling he mentioned was "homemade". All the wood was sad.
I would not insult the nice older man with an offer because it would have been less then a grand.
This is one reason I always ask for a recent photo to be emailed. If you save the photo to your hard drive, then right click it and hit properties, you can tell when the photo was taken under the details tab, and even by what digital camera. Hope fully this trick will save you another wasted trip.
Good tip. I want to mention that I am not knocking 16's. I may be hooked, think I will go to WPB and look at that one next weekend.
No one says you can only have one boat!
