I'm new to the board, but have sailed for 35 years. My Sunday Cat Paladin is now sailing on the northern end of Barnegat (between Mantoloking and Seasides bridges. Hope to see you out there.
Hi Dave and welcome!
I sail in Manahawin Bay and occasionally up in Barnegat Bay, although a bit south of you. You may be interested in the Barnegat Bay Bash on the weekend of July 27th at Tice's Shoals. So far, JT (23) and Marty (16) have stated they'll be there. My buddy Dennis may be there with his Morgan 30 and I'll be there with my 23 and, as they say, the more the merrier! I think we are posting update in the Lounge. This is a loosely planned event, more like a bunch of Compac Nuts showing up to eat, gab, tell sailing lies and swim in the treacherous North Atlantic.
Happy to have you aboard!

hi Dave,
i just wrote on my thread about my first trip up to your section of the bay. it would be fun to have you join us if you can make it to the gathering at the end of the month. This is the highlight of Bob's life - even if no one else shows up! My boat is at shore point marina in pine beach. welcome to the site! jt
Hi Dave and welcome to the forum! Look forward to meeting you and your Cat at the BBB-2012. This will be my first "meet" on the water. I met Bob last fall and he didn't bite, so seems to be quite safe. JT and his wife sailed with me on my CP16 Pegasus last fall at Lake Nockamixon and we parted friends! I'm still looking for a victim, er, I mean crew to buddy up with me. I've been practicing sleeping in my CP16 and now I know how a Gemini astronaut felt! But, I'm ready... I think!
My friend Alex is threatening to show up in his Bristol 24 out of Bayville. Can't wait.
Bob, a little feedback on protocol would be helpful. What to bring, to share, etc. How to raft up. Radio calls? Hey, I'm new!
See ya on the bay,
Marty K.
Marty:
I've entered the Pegasus log and returned unscathed! I'll be posting an update soon on the BBB-2012. First I have to get my new Saab deisel outboard running! Haha!!!

Bob,
I don't know if you're pulling my leg re the Saab diesel outboard. I do know they make one, though. Anyway I still can't resist a dig or two:
A. You could've gotten a Volvo Penta I/O! You could then ignore "hull speed" limitations!
B. Remember the Saab commercial showing their supersonic jet powered by Volvo!
Hey, I'm totally ignorant regarding the Saab diesel. I'm sure it works very well. I assume that it's a single cylinder. In Vietnam, I worked on a German ship with 2 cylinders - one cylinder was as big as my living room (maybe bigger!).
Marty K.
Nah, Marty:
Just busting on you knowing your'e a Volvo nut. But I wouldn't put it past Saab to make a deisel outboard. Someone does...I saw one at the Maine Boat Show a few years ago.
I like Saabs. But I like my cars to run, also. I don't own a Saab.

Bob,
There IS a SABB one cylinder marine diesel, manufactured in Norway. You Tube it for a cool video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Msz6HNB1-78 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Msz6HNB1-78)
Dave,
My apologies for hi-jacking your post!
Marty K.
ok Dave, so you now know what one of the major topics of conversation will be at the bash - rest assured, there will be plenty chat about compacs and sailboats etc.. along with a fair amount of good natured bantering about various things.. i hope that this makes the event even more attractive! jt
Very cool. Thanks! but I'm gonna assume that, for 2 reasons, this SABB deisel has nothing to do with the SAAB car company.
First, spelling is different. Second, the SABB deisel is actually running! Just kidding. No offense to all you SAAB owners. I truly think they are great cars especially the older, swedish built ones.
