this years clr will begin on thursday the 2nd of august. most sailors will leave on sunday night the 5th, however anyone wanting to stay longer is welcome . the activities will be much the same as last year. thursday being an open day. we will be available for any assistance with boat rigging and launching (that was fun last year wasnt it carl (sorry gonna take years to live that down). anyway, those who arrive on thursday will most likely enjoy a traditional dock party. friday, we sail, swim and raft up for lunch. friday night is the meet and greet at bretz winery and lodge located on illinois 127 a short drive from the marina. regarding the marina. last year everyone (even us 16 drivers) rented slips. the marina tends to be a busy place on weekends and even though the two regular ramps are open this year, launching can be a hassle. i was glad i kept my boat there last year, it was much easier. friday night after dinner we will have another dock party until the wee hours. next morning after breakfast we all meet at the marina and head out together. this year i thought we could "race" from point one (just east of the marina) north to allens branch (or hazlett ) for our raft up.i think the "start" can be signaled when all boats are near the point. at that time i will blast an airhorn to signal everyone to hoist sail . last year Hazlett was the perfect spot for a raft up with a good anchorage out of the wind and away from power boats. sarah and i have arranged for the meal at west access marina clubroom. fried chicken and fixins, with some help from the ladies. awards will be given at this time. last year was lots of fun and of course we ended up on the dock partying into the night. many of you will have to leave on sunday. and i figure we can have breakfast with them before they leave. again with pull out assistance. most of the particulars will be covered at the friday night meet and greet. any other questions can be directed to me here or my e-mail rocobine1@yahoo bring your cameras, water canons and folding chairs. lunch on the water is not provided but stores are very close by. i will make the reservation at the winery for 7pm on friday. we pass the hat on saturday to pay for that meal (its not much). if this years event is as good as the last two , no one will be disappointed.
B will be disappointed that she doesn't get a CLR 2012 shirt. I guess Doug always took care of making them available for purchase. Maybe we'll all have to get pink shirts so we can match Kickingbug's outfit!

mike, after all this time that shirt is still my favorite. " beer drinkers and sail raisers". what do you think all those hardcore racers at west access would think about a bunch of com-pac sailors dressed in pink shirts and grass skirts? after a few beers maybe we could rumble.
