Title: Heading to Myrtle Beach, SC - Sailing??
Post by: Saluki86 on June 25, 2012, 11:38:54 AM
Hello All,

I will be heading to Myrtle Beach, SC July 21 thru 28.  I would love to crew for someone for a day if the opportunity arose.  Also any recommendations for nice, sailboat friendly marinas to checkout for future sails?

Thanks,
sal

Hi, I will be going to Myrtle with my family that same week...but not my Compac Horizon.  Be happy to pitch in on a sail or just meet up for a beer one afternoon.

Steve from Springfield Va.

Hi,

Sorry, I seemed to have missed your email somehow.  Email is STPretz@hotmail.com.

Yes, we will be staying a couple of miles down the beach from Myrtle.  Just planning to relax and hit the beach.  Be nice to get together for a chat.

Steve

We will be staying at Xanadu II on North Myrtle Beach.  tjpalek@bellsouth.net.  I did a quick search of sailboat rentals.  Found one place that has Hobie Cats.  Never been on a sailboat in the ocean.  You interested in going together for one for a couple hours?  http://www.downwindsailsmyrtlebeach.com/hobie-cats-myrtle-beach.asp

Hi,

Sorry for letting the days slip by.  Down here with the family and the time is going fast.

Yes, sure, this place is right next to where I am staying.  I see the catamarans on the beach and a few going out every time I go swimming.  We are going for a swim now.  I have Thursday and firday and the rest of today.  very flexable...

give me a call if you want to come down to this end of the beach.

That sounds great! Same here.... Time is sweeping by.  How about lunchtime on Friday? We can grab a beer in our condo or on the beach at our "camp". Headed to beach now. If your are out walking, I have a teal colored tee shirt and white visor.  We are just north of the pink stripped condos (facing the beach).  Which end are you on?  I helped the Cat owner launch about an hour ago. He is from Indiana was able to park on the beach all week. I won't have my phone at the beach (I am kinda clumsy) but will walk it later.

Thursday the wind was strong and the sea was rough.  Friday was a little better, but I must admit.  I am rather spoiled now that i have a Horizon Cat.  The thought of sitting on a Catamaran trampoline with no bimini in the powerful South Carolina sun and 12-14 knots of wind really didn't work for me.

Thanks for the invite.  I was not really consistent with checking the email while on vacation, I did carry my cell, but I guess, life goes on.

On the other hand, my replacement sail cover for my Horizon came in while I was on vacation.  I am looking forward to streatching it out to see if it is a good fit, this afternoon.

Take care and keep cool,
Steve

No worries Steve.  Friday turned into a circus.....one kid with 2 broken fingers (wind slammed the car door on them) and another family we were with (luckily, NOT the same condo) had to deal with head lice :o

I will catch you next time.
